On 26th May 2016, Westminster Health Forum will be holding a seminar entitled ‘Priorities for healthcare research: funding, regulation and collaboration’ in Central London. The seminar will feature a keynote address from CASMI’s Founding Director Professor Richard Barker, the Lead for the Development and Regulation Work Stream for the Accelerated Access Review.
Attendees will assess the recommendations outlined in the Accelerated Access Review Interim Report on innovation in health research and adoption of new treatments, as well as recent developments announced in the Spending Review, including a government investment of £5 billion in health research, and a further commitment to research into genomics and antimicrobial resistance.
Further planned sessions focus on priorities for developing frameworks to drive medical innovation, next steps for promoting cost-effectiveness in health research, collaboration and partnerships across business and academia, the role of the third sector in advancing healthcare research, and challenges for the regulation of the research industry.
